First post
Why did I choose new york city you might ask? Well it was for food I said. Well, the real truth was it was because of food. I was going to stay here a month. Go back home. However, I decided I wanted to find a job 2 weeks in. Decided to stay longer.

I first became a licensed security guard for the city of New york. But that changed the next day when (wOOoosh) God enlightened me via a crappy guitar player in the subways.....to become a missionary. That is the beginning of my walk with God in New york city.

2/14/10

With everything closed due to president's day weekend/chinese new year/valentines I had nothing else to do. So, I have decided to create a blog on valentines day.

So, I have experienced such extreme blessings meeting Wendy, who is not a christian, but who helped me by giving me a used guitar for my ministry.

I have experienced a random asian american Chris, my web developer who I met through a random african american friend named Allen Mayfield, who gave me his contact information.
( I took a picture suspecting Chris might answer my email for help and this moment could be the answer to my prayer- i totally called it)

I met designers and then a photographer...

So the great thing is experiencing God's grace and love.

Now here is the crappy part about being a missionary in new york city.

-Not much income (65$ total dollars made last week with 5 coming from donations that I will need to spend on advertisements)

- Not many people that know/ hang out with you
- No stability
-1$ pizza and 1$ hamburgers.. most days. (can only eat an average of 5-7 dollars a day)

For instance
This day is Sunday, valentines day /Chinese new years.

I stayed at home for dinner.

This is the basement that I live in. The family and other roommates (total of 8 others) I live with had a Chinese new years festival upstairs. So, for the night, I got to eat downstairs on a table. I took advantage of that.

I do finally have internet though!

I bought some egg drop soup and mushrooms and fried rice! (7 $ meal. really pushing it so could only eat once today)

I watched Jackie chan cartoon adventures on valentines day. fantastic : P

The bottom is my room. . I was given a bed too! otherwise i'd have had to sleep on the floor. Mattresses cost 200 $!. I was given a heat lamp too because there is no heater. Originally, I slept in the cold but this is much better. If this is not on at night though, it can get near freezing in here. My contacts were too cold. so they became brittle and broke today :(.

This is my workspace/bed.

It could be worse. It could be better.

This is the life of one missionary for Christ in new york.
